SUBJECT: County Road 40 (Cleveland Avenue)
On Wednesday, August 20, 2008, I was in attendance at a Sherburne County meeting
regarding County Road 40 completion. Sherburne County was meeting with their
geotechnical expert regarding the settlement of the south end of the roadway, which is
currently unpaved. The data that was presented indicated portions of that section of
roadway have settled approximately 10 feet and are continuing to settle a minor amount,
approximately one inch per week. Based on the County's geotechnical consultant's
recommendation and the fact that there has been minimal development along the County
Road 40 corridor, it is the County's intent to let the surcharge sit through one more winter.
The question was asked how sure were they that the road could be paved in the summer of
2009, and the answer was that they were very sure the consolidation would be down to a
very minimal amount, if not completely stopped, and that the construction including the
paving could be completed in the spring or early summer of 2009.
I asked the County to keep us appraised if there were any changes to this schedule and they
