Authorize staff to contract with American Liberty Construction Inc. for construction of Riverwalk
project.
Background/Discussion
At the May 12, 2008 Ciry Council meeting, the council approved phase one of the Riverwalk project. The
estimated construction cost was $69,601. The estimated project cost was below the threshold requiring a
public bid. Staff sent the construction documents and bid sheets to 5 qualified contractors experienced
with this sort of project. Two quotes were received:
American Liberty Construction 5900 Main St., Rockford, MN $69,780
Blackstone Contractors LLC7775 Corcoran Trail, Corcoran, MN $71,018
American Liberty Construction built River's Edge Commons on budget and on schedule. ALC is
required to provide insurance and furnish a performance bond. Staff recommends contracting with
American Liberty Construction, at a cost of $69,780, for the construction of phase one of the Riverwalk
project.
Financial Impact
Total construction cost of $69,780 to come from the development fund. The Elk River Rotary has
committed to reimburse the city $60,000 for this project.
