Hiring of Paid-On-Call Firefighters
The Elk River Fire Department normally has a roster of 35 paid-on-cMl
firefighters. On November 30, 1995, Brian Borntrager resigned from the Elk
River Fire Department due to added responsibilities of family and career. At
our regular scheduled meeting of March 28, 1996, resignation letters from
two Elk River Firefighters Ron Pochman and Rick Gearhart will be read for
acceptance during the meeting. At that time, the Elk River Fire Department
will have three openings which need to be filled.
I am requesting the City Council approve the advertisement of the three
openings for paid-on-call firefighter for the Elk River Fire Department.
The process of advertisement, screening, interviewing and placement of the
new firefighters onto one year probation will take approximately 6 weeks. It
is my goal to have the firefighters selected and placed onto probation by June
