Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent October 6, 2008 Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator Item Description Reviewed by Authorize Attendance at International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference to Accept an iXP Excellence in Technology Reviewed by Award Action Requested Approve Police Chief Beahen's attendance at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) conference in San Diego in November to accept an iXP Excellence in Technology award from the IACP to the Elk River Police department for the department's paperless implementation project. Background/Discussion The Elk River Police Department will receive the iXP Excellence in Technology award at the IACP conference. Chief Beahen had not planned to attend, but given that the department is receiving an award, the IACP has requested that a representative of the department attend to accept the award at the ceremony. This is an honor for the department and a reflection on the excellent efforts Chief Beahen and his staff have made in implementing new technology. A formal City acknowledgement of the award will be made at a Council meeting after the award has been presented to Chief Beahen by the IACP in November. Financial Impact Expenditure of approximately $1,200 from the 2008 police department training budget.
