A RESOLUTION FOR THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
CITIZEN CORPS COUNCIL
WHEREAS,
We have all experienced many changes as a nation since September 11,
2001 and we are now more aware of our vulnerability, more appreciative
of the freedoms we are protecting, and more understanding that we have
a personal responsibility for the safety of our families, our neighbors, and
our communities; and
WHEREAS,
In his State of the Union address, President Bush called on all Americans
to serve their qountry for the equivalent of two years of their lives - the
equivalent of 4,000 hours - to the service of others by answering the call
to strengthen and expand service opportunities to protect our homeland,
to support our communities, and to extend American compassion around
the world; and
WHEREAS,
By working closely with Elk River Emergency Management, Sherburne
County Emergency Management, Elk River Police, and Elk River EMS we
will be able to help our citizens respond to the President's call; and
WHEREAS,
We need to reach out to volunteers within our community; and to our
corporate citizens as well, in order to have a successful Elk River Citizen
Corps Council; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor and City Council establish the
City of Elk River Citizen Corp Council as an important contribution to our community and
its residents. Together we can make Elk River one of the safest communities in the State
of Minnesota.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 27th day of January,
2003.
