SUBJECT: Dental Insurance Contract
At the last Council meeting, the health insurance contract was awarded to Medica for
coverage starting August 1. At that time I indicated that a change in dental insurance may
also be necessary. Our current coverage is with HealthPartners; however, HealthPartners
does not write dental as a stand alone policy.
Both Medica and Delta Dental indicated an interest in our group. To date only Medica
has submitted a quote for coverage starting August 1. The coverage would be similar to
the coverage we currently have with HealthPartners. Of course the network of dentists
will change. The employees have been made aware of the upcoming change, and since
most,if not all, of the dentists in Elk River, Zimmerman and Princeton are part of the
network there are no real concerns relating to the change.

The current and proposed rates are as follows:
Single Family
HealthPartners $21.63 $54.05
Medica $16.10 $45.90
Delta $N/A $N/A
Action Requested
The Council is asked to approve a the Medica Dental insurance contract for the period
beginning August 1, 1995, at the rates listed above. If Delta submits quotes before the
meeting and the rates are lower than Media's, the Council will be asked to approve a
contract with Delta. That information will be presented verbally on Monday.
