PROCLAMATION
**Item 3.3.**
A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR
CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH
WHEREAS,
In 2000, 7,700 children in Minnesota were confrrmed victims of
abuse and neglect; and
WHEREAS,
child abuse and neglect is not only detrimental to children, but to
our society through its long-term effects; and
WHEREAS,
all citizens need to be aware of child abuse and neglect and its
prevention ~vithin the community, and be involved in supporting
parents to raise their children in a safe, nurturing society; and
WHEREAS,
the City Council believes that preventing child abuse and neglect is
the responsibility of every caring community member.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Elk River City Council
hereby proclaims April 2003 as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
