Approve the hiring of a part-time custodian.
Background/Discussion
At the September 2, 2008 meeting, Council approved filling a vacated full-time custodian position with
contract cleaners to clean the library and apart-time custodian. Contract cleaners were hired in
September and staff has selected a candidate to fill the part-time position.
Patricia Hofstede has worked as a custodian in public schools for the past 14 years. She comes highly
recommended and is anxious to begin working for the City. Ms. Hofstede is prepared to start tomorrow,
November 4, 2008 at step 1 of pay grade 1. Based on satisfactory performance, she will receive any
approved cost of living adjustment after six months and a step increase July 1, 2009.
