SUBJECT: Gateway Business Park
At its meeting on June 11~, the EDA selected a layout option towards which to focus development.
(See attachment.) The EDA also confirmed the desired end land use was commercial in nature,
rather than industrial. The EDA, in recognizing the benefits of the property under common
ownership, also directed that Staff contact the property owners, to gauge their interest in selling to
the Ciry.
Over the last several months, Staff has spoken with the three adjacent property owners, Scott Powell,
and John Weicht. Both indicated they were interested in buying the City's land, rather than sell. The
third, Ebner, indicated that he was negotiating a sale to one of the other properties, and Staff did not
feel it appropriate to enter in the middle of those discussions.
At this point, staff requests direction on where to proceed. The EDA has several options, including:
1. Reevaluate the layout to better recognize property lines between the four principle owners
2. Consider selling a portion of the City's land to adjacent property owners to facilitate larger
parcel assembly and improve the marketability,
3. Proceed with platting the land as outlined with the EDA's chosen layout. This will require
their participation as property owners.
Staff requests direction.
