Authorization to proceed with survey work for Great Northern Trail
Background/Discussion
The city has received state and federal funding for the paving of the Great Northern Trail from CR 33
north to the city limits. The estimated project cost is $300,000. $230,000 of this amount is funded
through state and federal grants. The 2008 Park Improvement Fund budgeted $70,000 for city matching
funds for this project. The city engineer has indicated that there is a strong likelihood that federal funding
for this project can be received in 2009. Staff is requesting authorization to proceed with survey work in
order to begin preparation of federally required construction documents. The cost of the survey work is
approximately $15,000.
