Adopt resolution canvassing the November 4, 2008 municipal general election results.
Background/Discussion
The City Council serves as the Canvassing Board for city elections. Per state law the Canvassing Board is
required to canvass the returns and declare the results for a general election within 7 days of the election.
Attached is a resolution along with a copy of the summary statements that outline the results of the Ward
2 and Ward 3 Councilmember races.
Precinct 2B had equipment malfunctions on Election Day. Their totals did not balance out at the end of
the night so two election judges from different political parties ran the ballots through a different
machine on Wednesday, November 5. They balanced out after the recount. The summary tape for this
recount is attached.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE NOVEMBER 4, 2008 MUNICIPAL
GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River conducted a municipal general election on November 4,
2008; and
WHEREAS, the following municipal offices were on the municipal general election ballot:
