Ordinance Amendment Request by the
City of Elk River, Public Hearing Case
No. OA 96-2
Request
This ordinance amendment is being brought forward for the Planning
Commission and City Council to consider amending this section of the
ordinance pertaining to requiring commercial and industrial development
within the urban service district to hook up to water and sewer, as a
prerequisite for development. This item was presented to the Planning
Commission on February 27th and March 26th; however, the Commission
tabled this item until their April 23rd public hearing.
Staff has recently received information from the American Planning
Association and League of Minnesota Cities relating to the growth
management issue at hand. In addition, staff has met with representatives
from the Chamber of Commerce to discuss their concerns and try to
formulate some compromising ordinance amendment.
Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council table this item until the May 20th City
Council meeting.
