Hot ToPic(s) of the Month
• The Barn Dance Boogie was held on Friday, September 19 at Trout Brook Farm.
This first time special event gave families a chance to dress up western style and
dance to the music of the entertainment group Kids Dance. An inflatable bounce
and crazy hair was also available. 50 participants attended the event and expressed
that they had an enjoyable time.
• One of our fall youth programs is the Eager Elk sports classes held at Lions Park
Center. The Eager Elk sports classes are designed for youth ages 3-5 and focus on
basic sports skills in a fun, non-competitive environment. A soccer specific class was
offered as well as a sampler class that gives youth a chance to experience a variety of
sports. 22 youth enrolled in the Eager Elks fall classes.

Holiday Session of Learn to Skate Classes starts November 17t''.
November Programs
Starting in September, the Arena began having charity open skating sessions once a month,
that benefit either Hinote's Heroes, or CAER. For November, we will be having a
Thanksgiving Open Skate benefiting Hinote's Heroes, on Sunday, November 22°d
We are also conducting a raffle for a pair of tickets to see the MN Wild vs St. Louis
Blues(Hinote's team) all proceeds will benefit the charity.
Special Marketing Efforts
• We are continuing with the Breakaway Hockey League Newsletter, the latest edition
was sent out in October.
• Since the last regular session meeting of the Parks and Recreation Commission, we
have completed and printed out a new tri-fold brochure advertising our Learn to
Skate Program.
• We are in the process of starting up an arena newsletter which will be distributed to
all Youth Hockey families, Breakaway Families and Learn to Skate participants.
• The new Zamboni arrived early October. It is in the process of being "wrapped"
with vinyl advertising for Environmental Services (Randy's Sanitation). It will be
completed by the end of October, and will be in service early in November.
Facility Use
Cameras are being installed for security purposes.

• 303 Optional memberships have been paid.
• New exercise class called `Bone Builders" has started. Bone Builders is a program designed
for Osteoporosis and Weight Bearing Exercise.
• Enhance Fitness starting Nov 3. An exercise program that is sponsored by UCare. Includes
strength training, flexibility, balance, aerobic & cardio.
• Woodcarvers now meeting once a week at Activity Center.
• The Activity Center now has a Nu-Step Recumbent Cross Trainer for participants to use.
• Starting regular monthly Pool Tournaments with the Buffalo & Monticello Senior Centers.
September/October Special Programs
• September Senior Center Month, in addition to regular activities & programs we had several
other events. Live music, educational program; Nutrition for Memory d~ Focus, Activity Center
Munch & Mingle, Cribbage Tournament, Newcomers Welcome Party, Pack Your Bag
Medication Consultation with a Pharmacist, Ladies Only Billiards Bash, Pool Tournament
against the Buffalo Senior Centex, Medicare Benefits Check Up (meet with a trained
Medicare Counselor), the "Klinzing Thoughts" program taped at the Activity Center with a
live audience, the Mayor taped 2 shows about Activity Center groups.
• Red Hat "PJ" Party (brunch & live music at the Activity Center).
• Oktoberfest at 350 Evans #116 in attendance
