Action Requested
Council motion authorizing a $500 transfer from the Westbound Liquor budget to the Police Department
budget to be used for the liquor compliance education program.
Background/Discussion
Westbound Liquor failed a compliance check on Thursday, October 30, 2008. This is a first offense
violation for Westbound Liquor Store. The liquor store takes compliance checks very seriously and has
enhanced procedures to help comply with future checks.
Westbound Liquor is required to pay an administrative penalty of $500. Staff felt the funds would be put
to good use in the liquor compliance program offered through the Police Department. These funds
would be used to offer free compliance training to all the establishments that serve alcohol in the City of
Elk River.
Financial Impact
$500 transferred from the Liquor Operations budget to the Police Department budget.
