I .C. ver MEMORANDUM TO: Parks and Recreation Commission FROM: Stephanie Albin, Recreation Coordinator DATE: February 8, 2008 SUBJECT: Major Park Use -Cold Bear Challenge Hillside Race Series 'Pugs Fest' Request A group of approximately 20 racers from the Minneapolis and St. Paul area are planning to ride their bikes to Elk River and would like to camp out at Hillside City Park the night before the Pug Fest'08 on February 17, 2008. Brief Description of Series Pug Fest '08 is a special off road bike race for Pusgley bike racers held in the winter. This is the first year for this winter series of events at Hillside City Park. The uniqueness of this event being held in the winter has drawn interest from The New York Times, in which they are considering sending a reporter to attend. Information for your consideration • Pugs Fest is on Sunday, February 17, from 9 am to 6 pm • The Parks and Recreation Department takes in and processes all of the event registrations • The group will be responsible for clean up after the event along with City Staff • The event is expected to bring in several hundred spectators from both Minnesota and Wisconsin Attachments: Outdoor Facility Use Application Pug Fest Flyer Staff seeking commission direction.
