Purchase of TurfAerifier
The 1996 budget identifies $5,000 for the purchase of a turf aerifier. I would
like the Council's approval to purchase the 60" AERA-vator (by First
Products) from WAHL'S Enterprises at a cost of $5,165.25 including sales
tax.
Tom Wahl did a demonstration of this machine on the softball complex and I
was very impressed with its ability to fracture hard packed soil. In past
years, we have borrowed a core aerifier from the school district. The best
penetration we were able to achieve with that machine was 1' to I 1/2" into
the soil. The AERA-vator was able to reach a constant 4" depth even in the
hard packed class 5 driveway. I believe this will be a good purchase to keep
all of our turf grass in good condition.
