City of Elk River, Mayor, and City Council,
The Elk River Fire Department is planning on hosting an Open house and Street Dance on
Saturday, the 7th of September, 1996.
The Open House will be the same format as previous years, demonstrations of Rescue Tools, Fire
Suppression Equipment, Fire Tracks, the North Suburban Mutual Aid "Smoke House", Antique
Fire Track Rides, etc. This has always been a good public relations tool for the fire department.
The Open house is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Pop and popcorn will be given
away during the Open House.
The street dance will begin at approximately 7:30 until approximately 11:30.
The Lions Club will be selling beer and setups after 6:30PM, the Lions Club will be responsible
for obtaining a liquor licence.
The evening will consist of entertainment by "The White Side Walls", they will be I~]nning the
dance. Those Porkchops, The VFW and several other food venders will be selling food the whole
day.
For the safety of the patrons at this dance, we are requesting that 4th street be closed between
Jackson Avenue and King Avenue and Jackson Avenue fi:om 4th Street to 5th Street between
6:00PM until 12:00 Midnight. The Fire Department will provide the proper barricades as per Phil
Hals.
We will be in contact with Elk River Police Department for security of this event.
This street dance will be funded entirely by donations fi:om Non-Profit Organizations, as well as a
raffle. The City of Elk River will not encounter any expenses with this event.
