Great Northern Trail -Survey work was completed in late fall.
$195,000 Federal ISTEA Enhancement funds
$70,000 Minnesota DNR Regional Trail Grant
The federal funds can be used only for construction costs. The state funding can
cover 50% of the engineering and construction administration costs as well as
construction costs. Therefore the park improvement fund will need to fund 50% of
the engineering and construction costs. At this time our best estimate is that this will
be in the $20,000 to $30,000 range. This project has been listed as a potential "shovel
ready" stimulus project and has a potential of receiving full federal funding.
• Skating rink use has been extremely high, with the highest level of use at Handke
stadium, Lions Park and Trott Brook Farm Park. Warming houses and hockey
boards are available at Handke and Lions Park. General rinks are maintained at
Country Crossings Park, Kliever Lake Field, Mississippi Oaks Park, Riverplace Park
and Trottbrook Park.
