• Update on the YMCA Project
Please find attached the site plan and preliminary elevations for the YMCA project.
The current plan includes a full size gymnasium. The memorandum of understanding
between the YMCA and the City of Elk River provides for Parks and Recreation
programming in the gymnasium. City allocated times are as follows:
8 hours per week between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm
8 hours per week between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm
3 hours per weekend between Gam and noon
4 hours per weekend between noon and 8:00 pm
The current building plan contains separate restrooms for the gymnasium and an office
adjacent to the gymnasium, for city staff.
This building plan and city use schedule will allow Parks and Recreation staff to provide
multiple programs. Options being considered include open gym, intramural basketball, adult
volleyball, recess/gym time for home school families and league play for youth sports. A
YMCA membership will not be required for gym use during these programs. A small fee
may be charged to recover city staff costs.
