Waive Park Use fox charity event.
Background/Discussion
Dan Hinote is an Elk River graduate and a current player with the Colorado Avalanche is requesting a
special use of Orono Park on July 28`'' for a fund raiser for his charity. Hinote's Heros is a charity that
raised money for the Children's Hospitals in Minneapolis and Denver.
The charity would like to reserve the entire park on July 28`'' and would like to have the commission
consider waiving any fees to assist them in lowering the cost to put on the event. In exchange for
waiving any fees Hinote's Heros is willing to assist the Parks and Recreation Department in advertising
and promoting their recreation opportunities. There will be approximately 300 people in attendance.
Hinote's Heros approached the Parks and Recreation Commission last year with the same request and it
was approved. The event last year was well received and there were no complaints.

Ross-I've had a hell of a time getting this to go through today. Please let me know if you get it.
Also-is the city meeting tonight that I should attend?
Hinotes Heroes event.
July 28th, 2007. Hinote's Heroes is a nonprofit organization which donates money and materials to children with
different types of cancer. Most (I do not have percentages) of our money is strictly for the kids, not for costs
involved in running the charity. On July 28, 2007 we are planning an event at Orono Park from 11 am through the
day and into the night. Team's that participate will have 6 members per team and will participate in bocce ball,
horse shoes, obstacle course and other events to benefit children in need. Later that night we would like to rent
tents and set them up out at the park as well for a dinner catored by Rockwoods. The dinner will be followed by
speakers who share how their life has been affected by a child that has or had cancer in their family. We will also
have silent & Live auctions. We would like to ask that we reserve the park for the whole day. We (hinotes
Heroes) will be responsible for cleanup. I know last year we left the park cleaner than when we got there. If there
is a possibility of donating the park for the day, Hinote's Hereos would greatly appreciate it.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any other question. My cell phone is 763-442-1232 as I am the local
events coordinator for the charity.
Thank you.
