SUBJECT: Major Park Use/River's Edge Commons Park Wedding
Request
We have received our first major park use request to use River's Edge Commons Park on
Saturday, May 5~', 2008 for a wedding. They expect approximately 175 people at this event
and will be bringing flowers, balloons, fabric and an arch way. Time of the event request is
2-6pm.
River's Edge Commons Park is a beautiful place to hold weddings or other specialty type
events. This type of use brings more activity to the park which will lead to more
maintenance.
Staff researched area park rental policies and found a pricing ranged from $90 to $350 for
wedding park rentals along with a 1-3 hour time limit.
Staff Recommendations
Staff recommends keeping the park open to the general public, allowing this use for $100
rental fee and requiring renter to secure and pay for extra portable toilets if needed. Permit
will include a reminder of park use rules.
