SUBJECT: Major Park Use/River's Edge Commons Park Fontaine
Wedding
Request
We have received a major park use request to use River's Edge Commons Park on Saturday,
June 27, 2008 for a wedding. They expect approximately 100 people at this event and will be
bringing decorations, microphone and speakers. Time of the event request is 2pm-7pm with
the wedding ceremony at 6pm.
River's Edge Commons Park is a beautiful place to hold weddings or other specialty type
events. This type of use brings more activity to the park which will lead to more
maintenance.
As discussed at the August Parks and Recreation Commission meeting this type of use was
approved at $100 rental fee, $250 refundable clean up deposit fee and renter securing and
paying for extra portable toilets if needed.
Staff Recommendations
Staff recommends keeping the upper plaza of the park open to the general public, allowing
this use for $100 rental fee, $250 refundable deposit and requiring renter to secure and pay
for extra portable toilets if needed. Permit will include a reminder of park use rules.
