We typically trade-in our trucks on a 10,000 hour or 10 year whichever is less time frame. This
criteria has seemed to work well and minimized excessive maintenance costs and down time.
Staff is requesting authorization to prepare plans and specifications to replace a 1999 Freightliner
FL70 with a 55 aerial material handling boom with a new model. The 1999 Freightliner would
be traded in. Estimated cost is in the $155,000 range with delivery in the first quarter of 2009.
Although this electric line truck has been a good one, it is 10 years old with 6400 hours and is
spending more and more time in the repair shop. It is time to replace it.
