Historic Downtown Sign
The Riverfront Committee has received the custom designed sign to be
installed in Jackson Square, just south of Hwy. 10.
The cost for the free standing sign is $1,500 including installation. Staff
suggested that the cost be divided in thirds between the Riverfront
Committee, the EDA and the Street Dept. The installation will take place on
7/11 or 7/12/96 by the Street Dept.
The Riverfront Committee would also like to place metal signs along Hwy. 10
that read "Historic Downtown", but there has been a problem finding a
suitable site near the highway that is not within MnDOT right of way. Staff
will continue to work with the committee on this issue.

Parks Supervisor
Mr. Phil Halls
Dear Mr. Halls:
This letter is in regards to the telephone conversations we have had in May/June
regarding the large Elk River Historical sign to be located in town square, at the cost of
$1,219.43 and the two smaller signs to be located on the city land near Dairy Queen and
the city land on the southwest comer of where the Chamber is located, at the cost of
$345.00 each.
I will be attending the city council meeting on July 8th to represent the River's Edge
Downtown Development Corporation, in presenting the design and measurements of
these signs and to answer any additional questions you may have. We are asking if the
City of Elk River would help in occurring the expense of these signs and the placement
of them.
The River's Edge Downtown Development Corporation would greatly appreciate any
help in this endeavor, as it will be a great attraction to our historic community.
Sincerely,
Mum Beck
President
