The Elk River Municipal Utilities and Connexus Energy have a territory acquisition agreement.
This agreement allows Elk River Municipal Utilities to acquire territory in the city boundaries of
Elk River and serve the electric load instead of Connexus Energy. The attached map reflects the
area that has already been purchased and the area that is still to be purchased. As you may recall,
we will acquire area 17 in May of 2007. Often these areas contain an old or obsolete electric
system that needs to be rebuilt. This is the case for area 16.
Our 2007 budget contains a $80,000 line item to rebuild area 16. Plans and specifications were
created and bids were secured to do the required installation work. Bids were received on April
25, 2007. Attached is a bid tabulation reflecting the results.
Staff will make a recommendation at our meeting.
