At our June 2007 Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission meeting we discussed our vehicle
and construction replacement policy.
Our Unit #8 is a 1998 Freightliner with a Holan 42 aerial bucket, utilized on a daily basis by our
electric line crew. This unit is approaching 10 years old and due to be replaced. Although the
chassis is in fairly good shape, the aerial devise is showing its age and it is too short for the
current and future tasks it will be performing.
Bids have been secured for the replacement line truck and are reflected on the attached bid
tabulation. Due to the consolidation of the electric line truck manufacturers, only two
manufacturers of this equipment are left. Staff recommends award to the lowest responsive
bidder Dueco with trade-in.
