The property owner is a contractor, although not licensed and bonded, did the necessary repairs. The repairs did not go as smoothly as possible. Commissioner Gumphrey asked us to develop a list of qualified contractors that we can give to customers with water leak problems. The building and zoning department provides us with a list of contractors who have done work in Elk River. We have narrowed down that list to a reasonable list and it is attached for your review. We typically do not like to provide a list of contractors due to the public perception of making recommendations and playing favorites. We do not now have the ability to verify if contractors are current in their license and bonding. Hopefully the first paragraph of this list resolves these two issues. Because water leaks of this nature often happen after hours and need to be fixed as soon as possible, a list of this nature that can be given to the customer is warranted.
