1. Call Meeting To Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk Rivex Parks and Recreation
Commission was called to order at 6:34 p.m. by Chair Nystrom.
2. Elk River Land Fill End Use Plan
Representatives from Elk River Waste Management presented and discussed cost of
installing a park on the landfill vs. installing one on another property as part of the
possibilities for the Elk River Land Fill End Use Plan.

permission to use 4 feet of soil for closure of the cap on the landfill currently the standard is
2 feet of soil.
Commissioner Niziolek requested more information regarding other landfill sites that have
more active recreation amenities on them along with the cost of maintenance and stability of
the landfill before making any decision.
Elk River Waste Management staff said they would look into other sites and forward the
information on to the commissioners.
Commissioner Anderson discussed planting native prairie on top of the landfill cap, which
would help to keep out the wooded species.
