• Youth Expo- On Apri14`'' the Parks and Recreation Department collaborated in
organizing the Elk River Youth Expo, held at Elk River High School. This event
brings together multiple groups that provide healthy activities and options for youth
in the Elk River area. A partial list of participants includes: YMCA, Elk River Parks
and Recreation, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Girls Scouts, Kelly Farm, Arts Alliance,
local church groups and local sports associarions. Groups have booths with
information about their summer offerings. In addition to informational booths there
are food vendors present as well as fun games and activities. This is the second year
that Parks and Recreation has collaborated in hosting this event.
• Staff has been working on a finding a sponsor to fund expanded hours at the Senior
Activity Center. Staff will provide an update at the Apri18 Parks and Recreation
Commission Meeting.
• Staff is currently reviewing and updating the facility use policy for Lions Park and
Trout Brook Farms Barn. Staff will bring these recommendations to the commission
this summer for review and comment.
Staff has been researching the issue eliminating dog waste in the parks and will
present a power point presentation.
