Training Burn at
554 4th Street, Elk River
INFORMATION
On Saturday, August 3, 1996, the Elk River Fire Department will be
conducting a training burn at 554 4th Street in the City of Elk River. At this
property is the St. Andrews convent home that has been vacant for
approximately the last six months. The Elk River Fire Department has
entered into an agreement with St. Andrews Church for the use of this
building for smoke drilling and other training exercises to be held on
Saturday, August 3.
I have sent a letter to all adjacent property owners informing the residents of
the training session to be held in our community. I have enclosed a copy of
the letter to the adjacent property owners for your review.
The training session on Saturday, August 3, will be starting at
approximately 8:00 a.m. and going until approximately 3:00 p.m. If you have
any questions in reference to this training burn, please feel free to call me at
the Elk River Fire Department, 441-4919.
We would like to welcome any of the City Council members who would like to
stop by during the training session to observe the Elk River Fire Department
in action.

Dear Homeowner:
In order to serve you better, your Fire Department will be conducting a
training session on August 3, 1996. The Elk River Fire Department will be
conducting a live burn training session which will include total demolition of
a building by burning. The location of this training session is the St.
Andrews old convent home. Located at 554 4th Street, Elk River, Minnesota.
The Elk River Fire Department is informing you of this training session so
you will not be surprised when you see your Fire Department in your area on
this date. This will be a great opportunity for you to see the Elk River Fire
Department at work, learning new techniques and skills to better protect you
and your property.
We would like to remind you to take appropriate action to protect your car,
laundry if outside, and other items that may come in contact with smoke or
other particles. We would also like to remind you to keep your windows
closed if you smell smoke in your area. If you are not going to be at your
residence or property at the time of the training session, please remember to
make arrangements to have your windows closed.
The Elk River Fire Department will be barricading the following areas
starting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, for the training session to be
held at the St. Andrews Convent Home. The areas to be barricaded are as
follows: 4th Street and Irving Avenue, 4th Street and Holt Avenue, 4th
Street and Gates Avenue. During the time of the training session, residents
will be capable of leaving their residence at any time during the exercise. If
you have guest scheduled to arrive at your home during the scheduled

please advise of the roadblocks at the above listed locations.
