SUBJECT: Planning Commission and Park and
Recreation Commission Applicants
INTRODUCTION:
As the council is aware, there is a vacancy on the Planning
Commission, and two vacancies on the Park and Recreation
Commission. The city has advertised for these positions and
received applications for both commissions.
BACKGROUND:
PLANNING COMMISSION. ................................................
There is one vacancy on the Planning Commission created by Tom
Dillon. The council recently officially accepted Mr. Dillon's
resignation.
The city received three applicants for the Planning Commission
position. The applicants are as follows:
· Scott Brabec
· Thomas Mesich
· David Sheppard
Applications for these applicants are attached for your review.
PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION. ....................................
There are two vacancies on the Park and Recreation Commission
created by Shawn Donais and Robin Tuttle. The council recently
officially accepted Mr. Donais' resignation. The council did not,

however, officially accept the resignation of Robin Tuttle because
she had not submitted a letter of resignation at the time. Robin
Tuttle faxed her letter of resignation on August 2, 1996. (The letter is
attached to this memo).
The city received three applicants for the Park and Recreation
Commission positions. The applicants are as follows:
· Tom Gilgenbach
· Ron Westrum
· John Kuester
Applications for these applicants are attached for your review.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Council motion to accept the resignation of Robin Tuttle from
the Park and Recreation Commission.

A council date to interview the applicants must be decided
upon. Due to the full council meetings in August, staff suggests
that the council consider calling a special meeting on
September 9, either at 5 p.m., preceding the EDA meeting, or at
7 p.m., following the EDA meeting.

selected above: HaVing come from the fast growing area of Lino
Lakes, I realize how important the planning pro-
cess is to an area. The decisions made now have a ~ery large
effect on life i~ the.city five and ten years .from now. Since
we plan to stay here for many years, I would like to be involved
in these decisions.

I have been a computer consultant for 8 years and have been in the
computer industry for 25 years. I served on the Planning Commission
in:'Lino Lakes for 3 years and was a member of the Centennial Fire
District Steerin9 Committee for Circle Pines for 2 years. The last
three years have taught me many things about the plannin9 process
includin9 the pitfalls to look out for.
