Purchases from ISD 728
When the School District grounds crew moved into the city's street
department building, they relocated a two car garage from the Oak Knoll
fields sites to the northwest corner of our building. This garage needs a coat
of paint, but is otherwise in good condition. We could make use of it to store
signs, barricades, small seasonal equipment, seed, fertilizer, and the like.
Another item that they have offered to sell is a tow behind turf sprayer that
has a 200 gallon tank and a 20 foot spray broom. They purchased the
sprayer new several years ago and have since chosen to contract all of their
turf spraying. We have used the sprayer for our turf herbicides and it works
well. The cost of a new sprayer is about $2,500. A School District
representative has asked $3,000 for both item and I would consider that to be
a good deal for the city.
Action Requested
I would request City Council approval to purchase the garage and the
sprayer from ISD 728 for $3,000 with half of the money coming from the park
equipment reserve and half from the street equipment reserve.
