City of Elk River Request for Ordinance
Amendment, Public Hearing Case No.
OA 96-9
At the July 15, 1996, City Council meeting, a public hearing was held and
closed on this issue. Representatives from Cargill submitted documentation
for the city to consider regarding this item, and, consequently, the City
Council postponed any action until the July 22, 1996, meeting. At this July
22, 1996, meeting, it was determined that there had not been sufficient time
to review the new material and issues and, subsequently, action on this item
was again postponed until the August 19, 1996, meeting.
On Wednesday afternoon, August 14, 1996, the mayor, City Attorney Dave
Sellergren, and staff met with Cargill representatives to further discuss this
agenda item, alternatives to the proposed action, and possible solutions to the
issue that will satisfy both the city and Cargill's needs and goals. By mutual
agreement it is being requested that action on this item again be postponed
until the September 16, 1996, meeting. This will allow staff and the city
attorney some additional time to evaluate the issues and to work with Cargill
on possible solutions that may be mutually acceptable to both parties.
Action Requested
It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion postponing action
on this item until the September 16, 1996, City Council meeting.
