Ice Arena Equipment Bid
As the ice arena project was moving forward last winter, there was extensive
discussions taking place regarding the ice plant equipment and whether or
not the new facility should have new or used equipment. Youth Hockey
committed to paying for the ice plant skid and recommended that a used
piece of equipment be installed in the new facility. To this end, the Youth
Hockey organization had evaluated and researched used equipment and
came to the conclusion that a number of viable pieces of equipment were
available.
Equipment for ice arenas is tax exempt if the city is constructing and owning
the facility. Youth Hockey committed to paying for this equipment, but the
city took the lead and bid the equipment with the understanding that Youth
Hockey would finance this purchase. In July, the city received one bid from
Arena Systems for the used ice plant skid. After evaluation of this bid, the
city and Youth Hockey are recommending award of this contract to Arena
Systems in the amount of $70,000.
Action Requested
It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion awarding the ice
plant skid bid to Arena Systems in the amount of $70,000 contingent upon
the city receiving funds from Youth Hockey for this expenditure.

As per request the following is an explanation of the used Ice Plant Skid bid from
July 2, 1996.
The used skid we have for sale has two 8 cylinder York compressors, two 100
h.p. motors, two pumper units and a complete charge of R-22 refrigerant.
The base price for the above is $64,000.00:
The cost to add a third pumper for the Olympic size rink capacity that you are
installing is $6,000.00.
This pricing is valid until 9-1-96.
