Background Rum River Health Services, Inc. is working on a development concept to construct and operate 22-units of townhomes for permanent supportive housing. The proposed location for the development is the southwest corner of School Street & Jackson Avenue in Elk River. Rum River Health Services has partnered with Greater MN Housing Fund along with financing assistance from MN Housing Finance Agency to develop the project. Rum River Health Services Chief Executive Officer, Brenda Hoffman has been invited to the HRA meeting to make a presentation of the development concept. (RRHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit located in Princeton, Minnesota. The mission of RRHS is "to identify and respond to community health needs as an advocate, as a catalyst for community collaboration, and as a provider of needed services." The agency conducts periodic health needs assessments, advocates for needed programs, and directly provides programs when appropriate. The agency secures funding and administers programs in accordance with its articles of incorporation and by- laws at the direction of its governing board. RRHS maintains a focus on barriers to health-related quality of life issues in its area. When identified needs can be met by other agencies or organizations, Rum River Health Services advocates for transition and change that will improve availability, access and affordability for the population groups served. It recognizes the evolutionary changes characteristic of the healthcare industry, and is poised to grow and serve changing community needs.
