Approval of five (5) year renewal of the original 15 year lease term, under the same terms and conditions
with Boy Scout Troop No. 111
Background/Discussion
Back in 1994 the City entered into a lease with the Boy Scout Troop No. 111 for the use of a City owned
parcel of land, which the City received as tax forfeiture. The parcel of property is used mainly for drainage
in the area. The lease allowed fox the construction of a "scout garage" which is used mainly to store
equipment and supplies. The lease provided an initia115 year term with a tenant option to renew the lease
for one period of five years upon the same terms and conditions as provided in the origina115 year term
lease. The tenant must give the City written notice at least 60 days prior to December 1, 2009. The final
maturity on the lease will be December 1, 2014.
Building Official Bob Ruprecht recently visited the site and is okay with the condition and care taken at
the building. I have received copies of insurance certificates to ensure compliance with the liability
requirements of the lease.
Financial Impact
One ($1) dollar per year as rent payment. All utilities and costs associated with the "scout garage" are paid
by the tenant.

This letter serves as 60 day written notice that Troop 111 is exercising its option to renew
the "Scout Garage" lease with the City of Elk River. The lease renewal option allows for
a 5 year renewal of the original 15 year lease term, under the same terms and conditions.
Enclosed is a check for $5 for payment of the rent amount of $1 per year for 5 years.
