3.10. SR 07-06-2009Elk REQUEST FOR ACTION ...., River To Item Number Ci Council 3.10.* Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Consent July 6, 2009 Gary Lore, Building Maintenance, Su ervisor Item Description Reviewed by City Hall Boiler Replacement Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Acceptance of bid proposal for boiler replacement project Background/Discussion Four of the seven boilers that provide heating for the City Hall /Utilities Building are the original boilers from 1993. Due to the age of these boilers they are becoming a constant maintenance issue and results from tests done on the water in the system showed poor quality, which is beginning to deteriorate seals and cause equipment failures. New more efficient boilers will reduce gas consumption and reduce the chance of broken water pipes in the winter months. Staff contacted three contractors to submit proposals, of those Gravelle Plumbing & Heating, Aitkin, MN was the lowest at $25,656.00. Financial Impact Staff budgeted 25,000.00 for this project in the approved 2009 budget Attachments Copy of water analysis Copy of proposal Action Motion by Second by Vote Follow Up S:\BUILDING MAINTENANCE\Council RFA boilers.doc .~ ,3~•:,R -0 T~`ki. fc' 1 ~ tt.~'i , ~ „r v f, A, ~_~ ~ , - .~ ~' E~- ~~ < S 1`t "~ "' y. r t ~ h ( l" f'k •~- ~a e ~f~~ , I s .~' ~.,, ~~i aF cy~ ,~..~ ~ s o ~ ~ ~ ~,ti1 ~ 24 t c ~ ,fir 4 ~ _ ti ~ ) ~ A f i e t ~,~ i~a t, ;h ~ f M C Y~ ~ ~ ~ 4 E il',S~I ~ S/` ~S}'~1 {t A ..s't ~ ~ ~ ~ •: ~ ~ ~Cih \:r H~a J.`.11.W~" y*w W ~ A ~J ..~1` .
