The Bll~ River Landfill would life to regL~est a worl~shop with floe Council to discuss the issues
related to the Land:Cill's southern development area, As you l~now, this is ~ very technical
request and has longwrange implications to the Landfill, the City, and local businesses,
Therefore, we believe that a~a infor~national worl~shop naay add great ~ralue to the discussion
prior tD the .~,L1gLlst ~ 7~1i pLlblic meeting, we listened to eve~'yone's input and have some
significaz~t changeslinput to offer to floe CoL~ncil for his or her consideration.
we would life to discuss two main issues with the Council ; ~ 1 ~ the 1~,a~~d'C ~ I's role in futL~re
cona~.ercial development opportunities in the area currently designated for mining, and ~2}the
differences in ~~he econoric impact analysis p~'esented by the two land planners, H~~Gi and
Bonestroa,
wring the p~'oposed worl~shop, we would life to discuss additional development options tha'~
would allow for bath the continued develop~~aent of the landfill while still leaving sufficient land
available for other develop~~.ent opportunities. This would include the p~°esetltatio~~ of a reduced
landfill footprint, which w4L~ld include a larger area of land for future development near the
proposed interchange of 221 S~ and Hwy ~ G9,
Much of the discussion at the July 6tl' Council Meeting also centered an the financial analysis
presented by two la~1d plal~.~ers, ~-~Z~.Gi a.nd Bonestroo, and tl~e wide var~at1a17ICO1~~~~ast in floe
economic i~Bpact of the Landfill's continL~ed development, DL~e to the nL~mbcr of con~~nents
made by both Plan~.aing Conalnission a~~d City Council Nle~a~bers on the financial analysis a~ad the
effect the information presented by the land plan11er5 leas on theif' decision, we decided to hire a
