1. Review the proposed worksession agendas and let staff know if there are changes or additions
needed.
2. Discuss future worksession topics.
Background/Discussion
On the first Council meeting of each month the City Council reviews the worksession agendas for future
meetings.
Proposed agendas are as follows:
August 10 I September 14
^ 2010 Budget
Elk River Landfill (if requested)
Possible housing projects
Continued budget discussion if tax levy is not
approved on September 8
As we discussed at the July 20 Council meeting, the Elk River Landfill (ERL) has requested a worksession
with the Council prior to the August 17 Council meeting at which time consideration of their application
for an expansion is scheduled to continue. (The public hearing on ERL's application was continued to the
August 17 meeting.) As you may recall, because of the continued public hearing and concerns about
public notice, I was hesitant to schedule a worksession before consulting with City Attorney Peter Beck.
The Council concurred and recommended that I report back on August 3. I have consulted with Mr.
Beck, and we recommend that the Council delay the worksession until after the August 17 continued
public hearing so that the public can be .given notice of the worksession. This would allow the time and
date of the worksession to be announced at the meeting on August 17. If the Council does not agree
with this recommendation, adiscussion with ERL may be added to the August 10 worksession.
