SUBJECT: 17150 Focused Area Study Update
ITEM 8.1.
At their meeting on June 1, 2009, the City Council postponed further discussion on the
Focused Area Study pending MnDOT's decision on the interchange grant application. On
July 24, 2009, the City learned that it did not receive dollars toward the construction of an
interchange.
The Council may recall that the anticipated plan of action if the City was not awarded the
interchange dollars included the following:
1. Amending the plan to reflect "possible future interchange."
2. Show a new signalized intersection (pending approval by MnDOT).
3. Develop a land use plan and access plan for the west side of Highway 10.
Consistent with the previous direction, staff has requested a formal proposal from HKGI to
prepare a land use plan fox the west side of the highway. Additionally, staff will work with
MnDOT to better understand the options relative to adding a signalized intersection south
of 1715[. Further information, including the proposal, will be presented for discussion on
August 17.
