Dear Officer Ellingworth:
I read the article about you in the Star Tribune and want to compliment you for having the
integrity and courage to speak out when you witnessed brutality. As a Minneapolis taxpayer,
legislator and an elected official who is normally seen as a friend of the rank and file cop, I
probably should be angry and frustrated by your legal actions against the city. I'm not.
I'm angry at the city for allowing some in the police department to mistreat you. You are the
kind of individual we need patrolling our streets.
I'm pleased that the people of Elk River had the common sense to hire someone who doesn't just
go along with the boys. I wish you well in your career there.
Thanks again for speaking out. You did the fight thing.
