Summary
An Elk River Citizens Sign Committee is leading an effort to construct a "Welcome to Elk River" sign
along Highway 10 near the eastern city limits. The sign will be similar to the west entrance sign by Lake
Orono. In October 2008 the City Council approved an ordinance amendment that allowed city entrance
monument signs on city or private property. This group is working on acquiring appropriate rights to
construct the sign.
These negotiations are not quite complete, therefore, the applicant requests extension for one more
month, to September 21, 2009.
