SR 09-08-2009cti®n a nested Council adoption of the ~:esolution fo~.• Sa£e and Sober funding fog 2009-2410 and fog the city to pay fog the second office~• to attend the ~"o~vards Zero Deaths conference. ,~ackr®unl ~ iscussi~n The State Office of Tiaff~c Safety has app~:oved the next yea~•'s giant fog 20092010. That giant period will run from October 1, 2009 until Septembe~• 30, 2010. Sergeant Jeff Moxdal and Offices Todd Eiicl~son submitted this giant, which is the largest sum of g~:ant money eves received. The awa~:d was $90,000 which will be spread out amongst the law enforcement agencies here in She~•burne County. An additional X5,000 was au~axded to pay for dispatching overtime as well as an additional $25,000 to the local State Patrol Unit for a total of X120,000. This grant will pay for DwI enforcement, speed enforcement, and seat belt enforcement. ~1'e are required to send two officers to the ~`a~drds Zera deaths conference in Duluth on October 28 and 29, 2009, The grant pays for one officer while the city has to pay for the second. The cost for that conference is approximately X300 including conference fees and lodging. I have attached the resolution that needs to be approved and signed. I am also requesting approval to send the second required officer to the mandatory conference. inanCi~ ~111p~Ct Our exact revenue from the grant is yet to be determined, but we should see revenue in excess of $20,D00 for this grant period. Chief Jeffrey Beahen is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Ells River Police Department and to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant.
