Action Requested
The City Council is requested to consider authorizing the contract to pave the final lift on Tyler
Street within the Trott Brook Crossing subdivision.
Background/Discussion
Trott Brook Crossing is a subdivision that was not completed by the developers, according to the
development agreement. The subdivision is shown on the attached exhibit. Trott Brook
Crossing is slightly different than the typical development in that it had two distinct developers.
Strongbuilt Homes built the multi-family units located on 177``' Court. We have worked with Tim
Strong in the recent weeks and got the final lift of paving on 177``' Court. Tri-View Homes was
the builder of the single family homes located on Tyler Street. There are no vacant lots to assess
for the final lift of paving and we have had no response over the years from Tri-View in
attempting to get them to complete their project.
As part of receiving quotes for the Windsor Meadows work, we also asked an alternate bid for the
paving of Tyler Street within the Trott Brook Crossing subdivision. The three quotes received
were as follows:
Rum River Contracting Company $22,475.10
Pullman Brothers Paving, Inc. 26,229.80
Harddrives, Inc. 27,089.00
Staff feels that we have exhausted all potential opportunities to get the developer to perform on
this project and are requesting that the City Council authorize proceeding to complete the work
by awarding the contract to Rum River Contracting Company.
Financial Impact
The low bid of $22,475.10 would be funded from Street Reserves.
