Introduction o~ Tire Chief T. Tahn Cunningham Ms. Johnson introduced T. John Cunningham. Mayor z~linzing administered the oath o£ office and swore in Mr. Cunningham as the Fire Chief o£ the Elk River Fire Department. Chief Cunningham thanked the Council and the selection committee for the opportunity to serve the City as Fire Cl~ief, He Feels it is a great honor to be o£ service to the residents o£ the City and feels like he has joined another family, He thanked Interim Chief Cliff Anderson for his assistance in the past months and looks forward to working with everyone. Ms. Johnson also thanked Interim Chief Anderson .for all o£ his assistance during the months prior to appointing the new Cl~ie£. City Council Minutes October 7, 209 Page 2 . 5.2, IT Acquisition of Virtualization Hardware and Software ,._ Mr. Pearson presented the staff report. Mr. Simon explained the funding of this acquisition. M®VED BY COUNCILMEMBER ~ERWAS AND SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN TO APPROVE THE IT ACQUISITION OF VIRTUALI~ATION HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE AS OUTLINED IN THE STAFF REPORT. MOTTON CARRIED 3-0, 5.3. RRT waste_Deliv~ry~, Agz~eement Ms. Haug presented the staff report. She stated the agreement will be fox one year ending August 19, 2010. MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER 1l~IOTIN AND SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER ~ERWAS TO APPROVE THE RRT WASTE DELIVERY AGREEMENT AS OUTLINED IN THE STAFF REPORT. MOTI®N CARRIED 3WU, 5.4. Discuss Council ~lorksess~o,n Agendas Ms. Johnson presented the staff report, There were no changes made to the October 12 agenda. She added two items to the November 9 agenda: 2010 budget follow-up and Enterprise Funds budget, Organics Composting with R W Farms, and a presentation by the Lake Orono Association. The agenda items were accepted by the Council. G. Other Business Councilmember Morin reminded the council of the Northstar Commuter Rail launch event set for Saturday, Nov.14 beginning at 1 D,3D. There is a lottery currently taking place for people to win tickets to be the first to ride the train. Details are available on the City's website under Events. 7. Council Updates Tlaere were no Council updates. 8. Staff U dates 8.1. Bowling Alley -----~ Ms. Johnson stated an agreement has not been reached with the owner of the bowling alley. Financing for demolition is dictated by State statute fora 5 year term at 8% interest; tlae owner is asking the City to consider a G year term at 4% interest. Staff continues to work with the property owner to resolve this issue. The Council concurred that $% interest seemed high and if a solution could be found by staff, the Council was in support. The owner has until, October 9 to decide on these terms. Ms. Johnson also stated tlae Chamber of Commerce announced this year's Manufacturer's week is October 2G-30. There is a breakfast buffet on Wednesday, October 21 at 7.30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Otsego. If Council is interested in attending, they should e-mail Jessica Miller or Jennifer Johnson. 9.
