,The City of Elk River is comrn.i.tted to a multi~modal transportation system;
and
A planned pedestrian connection between downtown Elk River and the
Northstar Commuter Rail Station will promote mobility in this corridor and enhance
economic vitality; and
The City of Ells River, with the financial assistance of the Elk River Rotary
Club have constructed phase one of the trail; and
Providing pedestt~an access to Babcock 1Vlemorial Park, a thirteen acre park
on the Mississippi River Warned for Ells River native Charles Babcocl~, Min~aesota's first
Highway Comrni.ssioner, will enhance recreation opportunities for community members and
create opportunities for historic interpretation of transportation's role i~ our community;
and
This trail is a key link between the proposed Anoka County Mississippi River
Trail and Elk River's Great Northern Trail.
~ IT The City Council of Elk River authorizes
staff to submit an application for a Regional Trail Legacy Grant for the phase two of a
Mississippi River Trail,
