SUBJECT: Ambulance Services
This past fall, there were a number of articles and letters to the editor in the
Star News regarding the city ambulance service. The articles, both pro and
con, discussed the quality of the services that are delivered, the cost of the
service, and whether or not there is a need to go from the current service of
basic life support (BLS) with the advanced life support (ALS) as a back up to
one where the local service is entirely of the ALS level. This is somewhat the
same issue that the city reviewed, discussed, and responded to in 1991, and
some very positive steps were taken to improve the local service at that time.
David Miller and Mark Stutelberg from HealthSpan Transportation Services
and Elk River Ambulance Coordinator Steve Dittbenner will be in
attendance at this meeting to discuss some of the issues that have been
raised this past fall, to review the services that are currently being provided,
and to address any questions the Council may have on the Elk River
Ambulance Service.
