SUBJECT: Handke Pit Ice Rink Warming House
For the past five years or more, the city, area recreation, and the school
district have struggled with the issue of improving the warming house at
Handke pit. At the November Park and Recreation Commission meeting, I
suggested renting a field office type trailer for three months this winter for a
trial season. An 8' x 32' trailer can be towed in and out of the pit. The rock
warning house is now about 10' x 15' so this trailer would add about 18
square feet plus and 8' x 8' office/storage area.
The costs include three months rental at $228 per month, delivery set up and
return at $270, plywood floor protection, wood steps, and benches for $400,
for a three month total of $1,354.
The Park and Recreation Commission voted 6-0 to recommend that the City
Council authorize this rental for the 1996-97 skating season.
