SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder -October 15, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the
Uppertown Conference Room
This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in
the Uppertown Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. Please find a copy of the
agenda, and minutes from the August meeting. Currently, there are three applications in for the
October Planning Commission meeting which will be held on October 13 so if the HPC has any
recommendations, they will be included in the City Council packet for the October 19 meeting.

SUBJECT: Items on the October 13, 2009 Planning Commission Agenda
The following is a summary of the agenda items for the October 13, 2009 Planning
Commission meeting and their potential to conflict with any known or potential cultural,
historical or archaeological resources:
1. Request by Robert and Linda Moore for a variance to build a garage on their river
lot- (V 09-06) - No known SHPO site on the affected property and the city's
archaeological model shows moderate potential for an archaeological site. Staff
recommends the standard condition listed below is placed on this request.
2. Request by Great River Energy (GRE) to amend their CUP to allow burning of
alternative fuels - (CU 09-19) - No changes to the site will occur.
Standard Condition:
"Any item or condition found that indicates the site is likely to yield information
important to prehistory or history shall be reported to the city immediately.
Further, the city reserves the right to stop work authorized in its approval until the
site is appropriately investigated and work is authorized to continue by the city."
