SUBJECT: Salt/Sand Usage
As the Council is well aware, November and December of 1996 have had
extraordinary amounts of freezing rain, sleet, and slush which have required
repeated applications of salt and sand. At this point we have used about 250
tons of salt or 62% of the winter's projected amount. Hopefully the rest of the
winter will be more normal snowfalls with less salt/sand required, but I did
want to update the council of this situation.
